The annual Beautylish Lucky Bag is back.

Sign-ups ended months ago, but I managed to snag a regular box some time back in December. This must have been the tail-end of the orders, because most of the boxes started pouring in by the time I received my shipping notice.

Everything came individually wrapped in plenty of black paper; nothing came broke. I did undo all the wrappings before I snapped the picture.

The promised total value is there but this was (from what I’ve seen) one of the lower-end boxes. It was a pretty good year for Beautylish Lucky Bags! There were some amazing ones out there.

At the same time, I’d decided long ago that I’d be satisfied if I ended up liking half the items I received…and I did.

I may not be jumping over the moon, but there’s definitely this quiet sense of pleasure, a satisfaction borne of having fun, new things to play with.

Shots of makeup products outside of the box … but none are swatched just yet, as I’m looking to trade a few items.

I was pretty happy with the WG brush, the Natasha Denona palette and Charlotte Tilbury lip, though. They were brand-spanking-new to me. My stash has never known a Denona palette or a CT lippie.

And Wayne Goss brushes, you can never have too many.

The 2018 Lucky Bag is sold out, but you can always get on the list for the 2019.

This is the annual “fukubukuro/ lucky bag” that Beautylish puts out at the end of the year. This year, Beautylish offered two options: the “regular bag” and the “XL.” I chose the regular.

With $75, you can snag $150+ worth of products, all secret!

luckybag2 Everything came individually wrapped in plenty of black paper (so nothing gets banged around), but for the sake of this review, I unwrapped everything before I got busy snapping pics.

Nothing was smashed in transit. Everything powder came in tact.

This was such a steal for $75, considering how these were all products I was alway curious about but never bought. (With the exception of Bioderma. But that’s a staple I can never have enough of)

luckybag3 If you’re the type of person who enjoys the “unknown/hit-and-miss” factor (what we Koreans call bok-bul-bok), you will love the Lucky Bag. Plus, you might discover new colors/products you love that you’d have never bought on your own.

But if you’d rather not risk blowing $75 on products you might not even like (regardless of how big a return they might be value-wise), this will be a pass.

Lucky Bag 2015 was such a huge miss for me (with me unable to use 70% of what I got!), but 2016 and 2017 was pretty great. 2017 was my best year so far, so this seems to be getting better than worse, at least for me.

luckybag5 Immediately got busy with my old UD Ammo Palette. (Gauged two shadows in the process, me clumsy hands did) Much less cluttering.

That leopard pattern is so cute.
